Portal Satu Data
Open data portal for Ministry of Education.
Portal Satu Data is an official open data portal for Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbud). I was the sole web engineer on the team — responsible for taking the product from zero to one, making every frontend architecture decision along the way.
Beyond the main portal, I also built a custom CMS from scratch to support the editorial team managing the data and publications. And on top of that, I led the SEO strategy for the project, working to make Indonesia’s national education data actually discoverable by the people who need it.
Public sector software is a different world from startup or product work. The constraints are real: strict data governance, accessibility requirements, users spread across the country on widely varying connectivity, and a need to represent official government data accurately. Getting the details wrong here isn’t just a UX problem — it’s a governance one. Being the only web engineer meant owning all of that end to end, which was both demanding and deeply rewarding.
